Seeking recommendations
I write book reviews on my blog and I'm looking for suggestions of new young adult books to read and review. I have a leaning towards sci-fi and/or adventure, but I'll take all kinds of recommendations.

When doing internet searches for favourite books or suggested reads, I tend to come across the usual suspects (Harry Potter, Twilight, Hunger Games, etc.) and I'd like to have some more obscure ones on my list. Any hidden gems that you think deserve more recognition? Any new authors seeking more notice?

Diana Wynne Jones is pretty awesome. I also really liked Brian Jacques' Redwall series when I was younger. For more recent works, I enjoyed The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Stewart and The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making by Catherynne M. Valente. The latter is almost pure magic, I can't recommend it enough.

Looks like "the girl who..." isn't out yet in the UK but I'll try and remember it.

I think I still have a copy of the first Redwall book somewhere in my room back at my parents' house. I'll have to dig it out again next time I visit.

I've looked up the others. I hadn't realised the Howl's Moving Castle was based on a book. That's definitely on my list.

I bought 'Girl Who' in hardback a few months ago via Amazon though it was an import from US.

Will be out in UK paperback in May 2012.

I love the book of Howl's Moving Castle so much. One of my all time faves.
